This For Those Who Wait

By Kelley Asbury | August 29, 2010

“The pressures make us stronger // The struggle makes us hunger // the hard lessons make a difference // The pressures make us stronger // The struggle makes us hunger // the hard lessons make a difference// and the difference.. makes it worth it.”  ~This is For Those Who Wait, Fireflight This song has really spoke to me about waiting. And how really waiting is an active action… I’m actually doing something, even when it doesn’t always feel like I am. I think sometimes that’s when you learn the most, patience, endurance, dealing with your emotions, mental struggles. The struggle makes us hunger; the more that we are challenged, the more we fight, the more we struggle the more we will hunger after God. The more we will realize how much we actually *need* Him. But the hard lessons make all the difference, and the difference is what makes it worth it.

Crazy Times!

By Kelley Asbury | August 26, 2010

I promise myself that I’m going to finally catch up on everything… like blogging, and cleaning, and running, etc. etc. But…. life’s been crazy! Ever since I got home from Portland {yes, I know I never posted pictures} I’ve been going, going {gone!} 24/7. I guess I kind of like it that way, it’s definitely far from boring. The general editor at the The World {the newspaper I work at} retired, so as they’re trying to keep up I’ve gotten an assignment list about a mile long. I’m doing everything from the Ernie’s Grocery Store’s Grand Opening to the “Chili Cook-off” and The Classic Car Show. Along with all six fall sports. I’ve been pretty much stuck to my computer and the phone. And coffee’s becoming one of my best friends. {we’ve always been close, but I think it’s developed into something more ;)} I *do* get to use my camera for most of it which makes life great :-) Soon I should get some time to share lots of thought that have been floating around in my head these months. Also have another senior session to share…. lots of sweet images coming up! That’s all for now, gonna go clean the bathrooms, make some zucchini jam, and have some coffee. Have an blessed day!

The Amazingness that is Katie S.

By Kelley Asbury | August 26, 2010

One of my closest friends is going into her senior year, and  a couple weeks ago *I* got the sweet opportunity to take her grad pictures. Let me tell you, we had the best time /ever/!! Seriously. Katie is game for anything and everything. She has such a sweet heart, and is a lovely daughter of God. She also has an insane amount of energy. Insane. Ever meet the Energizer bunny in person? I have ;) So we went lots of places, took lots {and lots} of sweet images, and had lots and lots of fun. I had a really hard time picking images to post, because there were too many great ones! Thanks again Katie, for choosing me to shoot these special pictures. {One of my favorites} {This green door made me excited! loved it.} {Can’t decide which of these I like better. Either way, both are some of my favs} {This old school was creepy, yet amazing at the same time} [oh yeah, and someone lives in it. We found *that* out :/ ] {typical Katie look}

Kelli Roline – Class of 2010

By Kelley Asbury | August 20, 2010

I am sooo behind on everything, including blogging. I took these images of Kelli a couple weeks ago, but life’s been crazy. Lots of stuff going on at the newspaper, on top of all the photography happening at this time of year. Anyway, Kelli and I had a great time roaming around her parent’s property, they had lots of fun places for pictures. :-) Katie and Anna, also 2010 seniors… coming soon!

A Cute Family!

By Kelley Asbury | August 5, 2010

All of them :-) Corey, Alina, Afton and Bennet Tyler, Carol and “Baby Joel” And this one is just *too* cute! Jaimie and Amy The four “kids” {big kids} I’m a huge fan of this picture. It’s just sooo, cute! I could have taken pictures of these three for a loooong time…. so much fun. Afton, Bennet and Baby Joel. Afton……. is six…….. and she has the sweetest shoes a six year old girl could want…… Bennet……. is “free”…… and smiles when he sees his picture on your camera :D And littlest of all is Baby Joel who’s the cutest little flirt…. with the most incredible eyes!!! The end. I’m planning on posting pictures from my trip to Oregon, but this is what I’ve been working on since I’ve been home, so it came first!

Mitch

By Kelley Asbury | July 18, 2010

This weekend I got to shoot my cousin’s grad pictures, and boy was it fun. Mitchell was the best sport ever, even when we got up to two hours and it was over 90 degrees and *humid*. He was a great poser, too, I didn’t even have to tell him what to do! Thanks for being one of the easiest people to shoot, Mitch! These aren’t all, or even most, of my favorites… I just started editing last night and ended up with 63 “favorites” and a lot more “really good ones”. :-) Here’s a couple. I like this one…. a lot.  These scrap cars were pretty fun to work with :-) So this alley was great! Next to this building was a gorgeous white building… the best reflector you could hope for! This is one of my favorite… doesn’t he pull off the serious look well? mmmm, yeah. *another* fav This one is probably my favorite out of the whole shoot. Model material? I think so.

Baseball and Life

By Kelley Asbury | July 9, 2010

When I get stressed I start to pity myself. Start to say and think things like, “Nobody I know has all this on their plate.” “Look at me, I have to juggle this much.” “So-and-so, all they have to do is this.” Boo-hoo. Oh really Kelley? Well just suck it up and keep on going, because you’ll never catch up sitting there complaining that you have too much to do to catch up. Suck it up and give it everything you’ve got. Last night I was watching my brother’s baseball game against last year’s state champs. The first game was pathetic. One error that person was out of it for the rest of the game. One player at a time it happened to almost the whole team, and they just fell apart because their mental state went down the drain. I wanted to go over there and yell at them to stop acting like babies and get out there and play their hardest. And then it occurred to me that I’ve been doing the same thing, but in life. And life is a little more important that a baseball game. I remember when I used to play, and my dad would talk about winning the battle, and how baseball is mostly mental. You can have the best skills in…
