America’s Sport

By Kelley Asbury | April 29, 2010

Baseball is my favorite sport. I loved playing (well softball for me) and love watching it. From this time of year, until the middle of August I’m usually at about three games a week. Between two brothers and a sister that play, and covering the sport for the newspaper, and “just for fun” watching the college summer team play, I see *a lot* of ball. But I like it :D This past game I decided to do something for myself, and not the paper, and shoot for the emotion of the game, and not necessarily “paper” or action shots. Let me know if I accomplished that :) Our baseball team was 6-0 until this game. They got five runs behind in the fourth, and the score stayed the same for the rest of the game. It was a pretty intense last three innings. Dylan Shequen books it to first after hitting a hard single. Gunner Johnson after stealing second base. Jansson in for relief in the top of the fifth. Centerfielder Trevor Smith after hitting a long hard ball to center that was caught in the bottom of the sixth. Third baseman Chad Beebe on deck,  bottom of the seventh.  Jansson at the plate in the bottom of the seventh. Two outs. down by four. With Jansson on first…

His glory

By Kelley Asbury | April 28, 2010

“But You, O Lord, shall endure forever, and the remembrance of Your name to all generations. You will arise and have mercy on Zion; For the time to favor her, yes, the set time has come.” “So the nations shall fear the name of the Lord, and all the kings of the earth Your glory.” ~Psalm 102 [verses 12-13, 15] “For the Lord shall build up Zion; He shall appear in His glory. He shall regard the prayer of the destitute, and shall not despise their prayer.” “This will be written for the generation to come, that a people yet to be created may praise the Lord.”  [verses 16-18] “For He looked down from the height of His sanctuary; from heaven the Lord viewed the earth, to hear the groaning of the prisoner, to loose those appointed to death,” [verses 19-20] “To declare the name of the Lord in Zion, And His praise in Jerusalem, when the peoples are gathered together, and the kingdoms, to serve the Lord.” [verse 22]

Happy Thoughts

By Kelley Asbury | April 26, 2010

This little man…….. always makes me happy. Which reminds me of a lots of other happy thoughts: Him, and *11* other siblings to make my day. Washing my own car with those siblings :-) Carmel Apple Chocolate Cake for my birthday. mmmm The fact that the Lord *always* provides, even when we don’t have the faith to believe that. How very very much He loves me. His grace that covers me. The sunshine *and* the rain.  The flowers that are blooming, even in April! A Mint Condition at Caribou with…… A network of fabulous friends who are there for you….. even when you’re crabby. eating candy with my friend, Ange.  Prayer. Doing P90x with the bestest friends ever! Baseball.  And baseball photos. and watching brothers play baseball. which reminds me…. I haven’t posted any baseball images yet. hmmm =D

Life is More

By Kelley Asbury | April 15, 2010

Trust. Essentially that’s what quitting my job a few weeks ago was all about. {I felt the Lord was telling me that I needed to really move in my photography business, so it was a step of faith that the Lord would provide. :)} But now is when I’m feeling the lack of it the most. I’ve been worrying the past few days.Worry. Essentially the opposite of trust. Stressing about our problems is saying that God’s not big enough to handle them. But….. that’s what I’ve been doing. So I’m going to stop. Easier said than done, right? But I’m going to try! Stop worry about getting a job this summer; Stop stressing about whether or not I have that shoot; Stop thinking about how much money I still owe; Stop worrying about how long my camera is going to last, and just wait and see. Just wait and see. That’s it. That’s what God want’s us to do. Wait and see what the Lord will do! “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?” ~Matthew 6:25 Is not life more than food, and the body…

Is this Me?

By Kelley Asbury | April 13, 2010

Today while reading Ezekiel this verse popped out at me. This is *not* what we are supposed to be, but I’m pretty sure that I fall into the trap of just getting myself by. It’s all about me, even my relationship with God tends to be all about me. Reading this verse made me think what life would be like if we were the opposite, if we really did these things. “The weak you have not strengthened, nor have you healed those who were sick, nor bound up the broken, nor brought back what was driven away, nor sough what was lost; but with force and cruelty you have ruled them.” -Ezekiel 34:4  The Lord is talking to His Shepherd’s, the leaders of His people, who weren’t doing their job. Although not all of us are leaders in the strict sense of the word, I think that as the body of Christ this applies to all of us. As Christians we should be leading the sheep.  I want to get out there, stop thinking about myself, and instead, strengthen the weak. heal the sick. bind up the broken. and seek those who are lost.
