Angie’s Wedding Shower

By Kelley Asbury | March 13, 2010

My beautiful cousin Angie is getting married in April, and we started of the celebration with her bridal shower last weekend. I posted more images here on my Facebook account. The Bride =) The Stewart Sisters Angie and her sister, Emily, who just got married in October. She was pretty excited about getting extra points for a dirty Kleenex in her purse =P My little second cousins were enjoying this “Girl’s ONLY” event. [Yep, those were their words] This was an “heirloom”. A pin from my grandma, who passed away a few years ago.

A Trail of Fruit

By Kelley Asbury | March 13, 2010

I found this verse on a crumpled piece of Hampton Inn “Thought Pad” paper, in one of my bags that I was cleaning out today. The fact that it was called a “Thought Pad” was appropriate =) “You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.” ~John 15:16 He chose us. We didn’t choose Him. No matter how hard we try, I think it really comes down to him choosing us. And in a way, that makes me feel really special. He took the time to choose me. He cares enough to choose me. He appointed us to bear fruit. And not just bear fruit, but to bear fruit that will remain. Appointed to leave fruit behind. Like a trail of actions saying “I, a child of Christ, has been here.” Actions that will remain, and stay around for a while. And…… If we do that, if we bear fruit that will remain, and seek to follow Him with our whole hearts (because really, that’s the only way that our seeds will bear fruit) then whatever we ask of the Father will be given to us. Isn’t that an awesome…

A Mustard Seed?

By Kelley Asbury | March 2, 2010

“The power of faith rests in the reliability of the object of your faith, not in the amount of faith you have.” [Part of Mr. Gillson’s sermon on Sunday] “And He said to me, ‘Son of man, can these live [in reference to a valley of dry bones]?’ So I answered, ‘O Lord God, You know.’ Again He said to me, ‘Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, “O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! Thus says the Lord God to these bones, ‘Surely I will cause breath to enter into you , and you shall live’…… [Ezekiel 37:3-5] “So I prophesied as I was commanded.” [verse 6] And it happened. The bones came to life, and breath entered them.  But I don’t see any bold faith statement here, he doesn’t say “Yes!” when the Lord asks him if these bones can live. He said what he was commanded to say and it happened. These things don’t rely on the amount or the strength of our faith. All we need is faith like a mustard seed! I always looked at that story and thought, wow, I don’t even have the faith of a mustard seed. But Jesus is saying that we don’t have any use for any more! All we need is that little seed of…

Yesterday at the lake I did a quick, 5 minute photo shoot of my cute parents. They’ve been married for 22 years, and their relationship is an inspiration to me!

Lake Superior

By Kelley Asbury | February 24, 2010

Today we had a dentist appointment in Duluth, so we stopped by Lake Superior to make the day better :) Even though it was kind of cold by the lake I had fun with my camera…. It would be helpful if it started being a “Minnesotan Camera”, though…. he doesn’t seem to like the cold like I do :/  Anyway…….    Isn’t my mommy cute!??!?!               And just because……. there’s not a lot of pictures of me here :-)

Because Two are Better

By Kelley Asbury | February 21, 2010

“Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor.” For if they fall, one will lift up his companion.  “Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him.”  “And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.” [Ecclesiastes 4:9-10,12] “Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety.” [Proverbs 11:14] Because two are better!

My Bro, Tom

By Kelley Asbury | February 20, 2010

This my brother Tom,   He’s nine years old, and quite ambitious. One of our favorite family stories was the time Thomas was fixing the toaster he found in the recycle and almost burned down the house…… :-) well, not quite, but in the words of Natalie, his little sister, “And it ‘tarted ‘parking! and then Thomas said, ‘unplug it! unplug it!”  The boys built a spearfishing/ice fishing house this winter, and Thomas decided he wanted to make his own decoy. It took him a little while and a lot of trial and error, since Tom is the first in the family to try and make one, but he did an amazing job! This is the finished product!

Without Him there is no Wisdom

By Kelley Asbury | February 18, 2010

“Or who has begotten the drops of dew? From whose womb comes the ice? And the frost of heaven, who gives it birth? The waters harden like stone, and the surface of the deep is frozen.”  “Who has put wisdom in the mind? Or who has given understanding to the heart?”  [Job 38:28-30, 36]

My Valentine???????

By Kelley Asbury | February 15, 2010

So. Who’s *your* Valentine????? Your hubby?? Your boyfriend/girlfriend??? Jesus??? =) Ok. So how about “Crabby Grandma and her Grandbabies”? uhhhhhh. nope.  uh uh. not at all. Today at church Mr. Zahm was talking about the heavy burden Paul had for the Children of the Lord, but also for the furtherance of the gospel. How Paul goes through the list of physical trials that he has endured, but then says that his burden of the gospel is even heavier. That he would give up everything for the good of the gospel. It pretty much hit me over the head then, that that’s what love means: having a heavy burden for the world, and the creation of God, that they might hear the gospel that saves; the story of Love. So much so that we cant keep it to ourselves. And it doesn’t mean just for out fellow believers, or our fellow believers, or our family, or our friends. It means Grandma and her Grandbabies. ooofta. It means passing that love on, because it’s such a burden to keep it that we can’t! I’ve been feeling God’s overwhelming love toward me, but I’m asking Him to give me an overwhelming burden that I can’t keep to my self. But that kind of brings me to another point…. where love isn’t a…
