Sometimes I wonder why we do all the things we do.Like why we have people stand up in front of the church, all dressed up for half an hour at our wedding.Or we we *all* get dressed up for a wedding.And why do we make such a big deal over a wedding when it’s really the marriage that counts.And why our culture still makes such a huge deal over the wedding day, when in reality it means absolutely nothing.Or why…..Or why…..Tradition? T.R.A.D.I.T.I.O.N {think Fiddler on the Roof}Part of it makes me want to go get married on the beach in South Padre ;) just because it’s not tradition. But then, my wedding counts for something to me, because my marriage would mean a lot to me. I want my wedding to be made up of things that really mean something to me. I guess I’m just a rebel against tradition, because for the most part it seems so pointless.Ok, so our wedding [if we have one] is one day of our life. But really, so much of our life is governed by this little thing called tradition.Why do we do a lot of the things we do? Because of tradition. And why do we worship the way we do? A lot of times because of tradition.It makes me want…
Read MoreUmmm…. I’m pretty sure I’ve had a post named this before… Yeah, I’m positive. Well, it’s still crazy, but I was just going to update; I got into the Visioneering Mentor Program, a business mentoring program for photographers, and I’m so excited! For the next three months I’ll be pretty busy with that… but I think it’s going to be really good for me. Actually it already has been. Setting goals and boundaries, working through my strengths and weaknesses, learning new things… good stuff. My computer is going to die…. so I’m going to cut the update short… but I’ll add my self portrait that I took for the program blog….
Read MoreI found out today…. that I really [really] like thrift store jewelry. It’s fabulous, because every piece is different, and none of are something your friends have. Read MoreI found a tennis picture on my desktop from a couple weeks ago, and thought I’d share it with you… I really like the concentration on MiKayla’s face. I only got to cover tennis for a couple weeks before the paper hired another editor… now I’m on to football, volleyball and swimming. I’ll be posting some of my favorites from both football and volleyball soon….. :-)
Read MoreOh my word. What a fabulous couple, gorgeous day, and super wedding party! I loved everything about it, and we had such fun with the pictures. The groomsmen had the best ideas ;) and the girls were just super lovely and this is *only* supposed to be a preview… [since I’m not even half through editing] but I had too hard a time choosing. Oh well, you get to enjoy more of them! Leah and David are so cute together that my job was way too easy. way too easy. It didn’t take much to get special looks. I’m so glad that I got to participate in their lovely day. I enjoyed it so much! {First look – thanks Trinks for “arranging a moment” ;) } {David’s really cool family is Russian… hence the “Russian smiles” } {This one is just precious} {mmmm, gotta be one of my favs} {awwwww :D } {eeek! When I saw this picture I did a little happy dance…} {these guys were a riot, good posers too ;) } {these girls were so gorgeous, and I was a huge fan of the flowers; David’s sister did a gorgeous job!} {I told you they were fun} {another favorite}

Read MoreYesterday I was painting my little sisters’ fingernails {not all of them.. I have three more} and since the were sitting in *gorgeous* light, and the needed something to keep them distracted until the polish dried… {we took pictures} Rachel was first: She’s three. and her nickname is “Chubs” {originally Chubby Monkey} Those eyes. Those eyes. And that smile. Of course since Rachel got time in front of the camera Natalie wanted some too: Natalie is six… And she has eyelashes that pretty much look fake….. Plus, she has the most charming little grin that would make you forgive her for *anything*. Sarah didn’t get her nails done… but she got her make-up done :) and there’s always nice light in the bathroom…. Sarah is nine. And this is her little smirk after I told her she was blinking :) This is one of my favorites of her. She’s got such stunning looks {oh, and I’m in love with those eyes again} This girl is just gorgeous. Maybe my next project will be the other three sisters……

Great model + sweet light + cool {and a bit creepy} island + super amazing reflector girl {aka. Amy} = A fabulous time and rad pictures! Anna is such an amazing girl, the kind where you might not see each other for a while, but you can always pick up where you left off :-) Did I mention that this girl’s got the model looks in her back pocket? mmmmmmm. I like. These two are probably my favorites from the shoot…. but it’s soo hard to decide…. Love love love this shot. I know I said the other two were my favs but……
