My photography journey started at a local newspaper.
Back in 2006 I was shooting and writing for high school sports. Week after week I photographed the same teams and the same plays, and eventually I realized something: the real story wasn’t always happening in the game itself.
It was happening just outside of it.
The wrestler preparing on the bench.
Parents cheering from the stands.
A teammate waiting nervously on the sidelines.
Those quiet, in-between moments were the ones that made every event unique.
That’s when I realized the kind of photographer I wanted to be.
When I started my own business in 2009, I realized I was drawn to weddings and portraits for the same reason.
A wedding day isn’t just the ceremony.
It’s the quick glance between the bride and groom after walking down the aisle.
The grandparents holding hands during the first dance.
The flower girl who wanders off during the ceremony.
These are the moments that tell the real story.
It’s the same reason I love photographing families and seniors. The hug between a father and daughter. The quiet pride in a parent’s eyes. The moment a senior realizes they’re stepping into the next chapter of their life.
Those are the moments that matter.
